Cracking the Code on Plant-Based Performance Without Compromise with Anthony Boldin, LiveComplete

Solving the Protein Problem: How An Engineer Solved the Future of Plant-Based Nutrition

What do you do when you go vegan for your health, track all your macros, and still find your muscles getting softer and your recovery lagging?

If you’re Anthony Boldin, you engineer a solution that just might change the future of food.

On The Wild Party Podcast, host Stefanie LaHart sat down with Anthony, founder of LiveComplete, to explore how his personal plant-based journey, and frustration with the limitations of traditional protein, led him to build NutriMatch™, a proprietary algorithm that calculates the ideal plant protein blend to match the amino acid profile of human muscle with astonishing precision.

“I was trying to solve a problem for myself.”

Anthony didn’t plan to start a business. He just wanted to feel better.

“I lived a conventional lifestyle for a long, long time,” he shared. “When I went plant-based, I felt better in a lot of ways, my skin cleared up, my stomach felt good, my heart felt healthier. But I also noticed my body composition was changing, and not in a good way. My muscles felt softer. I wasn’t recovering as fast. I didn’t like it.”

Despite maintaining the same macro intake, Anthony saw a shift in his performance and recovery that couldn’t be explained by numbers alone. “Even though I was eating the same amount of grams when it came to protein, something wasn’t adding up.”

As a longtime engineer, with a background in mechanical systems and software, he applied his problem-solving skills to the challenge. He quickly discovered a massive gap in how we evaluate protein.

Protein Grams Don’t Tell the Whole Story

“We all assume that 20 grams of protein is 20 grams of protein, whether it’s from beef, dairy, or plants. But I learned that it was wildly different from source to source.”

Anthony explained that while most proteins are technically “complete,” meaning they contain all nine essential amino acids, they are often imbalanced. And unless those amino acids are present in the right ratios, your body can’t effectively use them to build muscle.

“It’s like trying to build a house with tons of concrete and windows, but only 50 nails,” he said. “If you’re missing just one building block, all the others go to waste. Your body either burns the excess as fuel or stores it as fat.”

Building NutriMatch™

Determined to create a better solution, Anthony built a massive database of amino acid profiles, across plants, animals, and even human muscle tissue, and created NutriMatch™, a proprietary linear equation (not AI) that calculates the ideal combinations.

“At first I tried to solve it in a spreadsheet,” he laughed. “But I quickly realized this was a 12.7 quadrillion combination problem.”

After years of refinement and trial and error, NutriMatch™ was born. The algorithm helped Anthony reach a breakthrough, matching plant-based protein to the amino acid profile of chicken or beef at over 96%.

“When I saw that we could create a blend from plants that matched or beat the protein quality of animal products… that’s when I knew this was bigger than just a personal project.”

“I want people to live complete.”

LiveComplete wasn’t born just to offer better protein, it’s about making plant-based living frictionless.

“There are too many barriers to living a healthy, plant-based lifestyle. I wanted to remove those. I didn’t want to choose between taste, nutrition, texture, or price. I wanted all of it.”

That meant building not only a precision protein blend but a product people would actually love.

“I’m not a food scientist. I’m the conductor of the orchestra,” Anthony said. “I brought in people who love what they do and know how to make things taste amazing.”

The team landed on a smooth, crave-worthy formula using ingredients like Madagascar vanilla, alkali-processed cocoa, agave syrup, and a touch of opti-smoothing agents to eliminate graininess.

Stefanie, a longtime vegan and protein powder skeptic, was impressed:

“It sat on my counter for four days because I thought I’d hate it. But I finally tried it, and I was shocked. I said, ‘Oh my God. He actually made me like protein powder.’”

Education Is the Next Mission

Anthony knows he’s entering a saturated market, and he’s taking a long-term view. The company is entirely self-funded, supported by a team of passionate co-founders.

LiveComplete’s focus now is on education, helping consumers understand why protein quality matters just as much as quantity.

“We created Match Rate™ to make it simple. Our protein has a 96% match rate to human muscle. Whey protein? It’s around 48%.”

To spread the word, LiveComplete is planning clinical studies, white papers, social media campaigns, and appearances at conferences.

What’s Next?

Anthony and the LiveComplete team are just getting started. Beyond protein powders, they’re developing protein-enhanced versions of everyday foods, and even looking to partner with other brands to replace whey in packaged products.

“We want to create the future of food,” Anthony said. “If we make a product that’s just better, better for your body, your family, and your health, then it doesn’t matter if it’s made from plants or not. It just becomes the obvious choice.”
